Before I tell everyone I know that they should buy this book, I'd like to give ya a little story. Several years back, I called into a Columbus radio station while the lead singer of Papa Roach was doing an interview. My son, who was in elementary school at the time, looooved them. I was a fan too, but the kid... seriously, looooved them. Anyway, the singer told me he wanted us to attend the show. I went to the school, picked up the kid early (great parenting huh?) and we started driving down there when the stati0n manager called and explained Jacoby, the singer, had asked us to come even earlier because he wanted to meet us! Well, Ethan was overjoyed, of course.
When we get there, the meet and greet room was full of groupies, young little hoochies wearing barely there clothes, all clammering to get autographs and meet the band (and sneak onto their tour bus, no doubt). Then there's me and the kid. I'm thinking, "they are going to pay no attention to us, and this is going to be a bust." I couldn't have been more wrong.
Each one of those band members made a huge deal over my son. They gave him fist bumps, tons of swag, autographs and took pics with us. From that day on, Ethan wasn't the only diehard Papa Roach fan, I was too.
So where am I going with this longwinded story? It's like this - I can honestly recommend The Star Child to read, it's a great novel, but even more than that, I can say I'm a fan of Stephanie Keyes, the person. She is always a pleasure to hear from and work with. Feel good about buying a book from a genuinely cool person...
