As a writer though... it's pretty darn cool. No retyping pages at a time on typewriters or word processors, spell check saves us all some misery and when it comes to editing, there's no more red pen. (Although the bubbles are just about as bad).
Technology has also made me almost OCD when it comes to saving data. I no longer have notebooks that I write ideas down in. The recent purchase of an iPad keeps all my notes in one place and can even email them to me at multiple locations (which I do constantly for fear of the internet eating them). When I wake in the night with some wicked cool idea for Lily Drake, I don't flip on the light and search for a pen. I flip on the iPad and punch in some notes and fall right back to sleep. I'm getting reliant upon the technology. Of course, that's exactly what the computers want as they bide their time before they revolt and take over.
This is where we are now. The future is here. I'm quite disappointed there are no hover cars though. Or at least hover skateboards like in "Back to the Future." We're gonna need some way to escape from the giant metal cyborgs when they attack. Someone should get on that. I'm thinking maybe someone from Apple. They seem to have some pretty nifty ideas up in there.
