of Truly. Madly. Deeply. You. and the upcoming
release Reaper's Novice, her rereleased YA novel
which I am on pins and needles waiting to read.
Cecilia has been kind enough to stop by and answer
a few questions for us about it.
I'm very excited to read Reaper’s Novice. I’m certain my teenage son will love it as well. What age group do you think will relate to the book most?
I’d say it is geared towards ages 14 and up.
Reaper’s Novice seems nothing like your last book, Truly, Madly, Deeply, You. What was your inspiration?
I work as an assistant nurse. I’ve seen light dim from patients eyes, as death claims them. One day I asked myself where souls go after they leave the body. So about two years ago, I decided to explore this through this story and of course Grim was there to remind me how well he does his job. J Questions popped up: Does he work alone? That’s when Ana was created along with other characters, and this led to exploring why she was chosen as the Reaper’s Novice. Other questions that popped up:. What if Grim wasn’t the only party interested in Souls? What if he had adversaries?
One thing I can guarantee you is Grim, aka Ernest isn’t your usual Grim Reaper. His character has depth, and he’s much more fun that the stereotype.
My other inspiration was Vienna as a setting with its historical buildings dating back medieval times.
Tell us more about Ana, the main character. Was she modeled after a real life person you know?
Ana isn’t exactly modeled after anyone in particular. Her qualities are all mixed up. She is stubborn, a quality both my son and daughter have, but in different doses of course, protective of the people she loves which makes her very impulsive, insecure, loves very easily. And she LOVES to eat. :D
If you had to choose only one genre to write, which would it be?
Gosh! That would be a very hard choice to make, mainly because I wouldn’t know how to make up my mind which genre to write and which to leave out. I enjoy reading most genres, and same goes to writing.
What are you currently working on?
I’m working on three stories: A New Adult contemporary romance and Truly Madly sequel, as well as Reaper’s Novice sequel. I hop from one project to the other. I find it helps to keep my ideas rolling, and gives me a chance to look at a story in a fresh perspective every time.
Is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?
First thank you for believing in me. Thanks for welcoming my books into your hearts. Words aren’t enough to express my gratitude and joy that you chose to believe in me. Hugs to you. J
Thank you for having me over, T.
