One of the options is Lily. Of course, you know where my vote lies!
What's even cooler is the name Lily originated from keeping a flower theme because the baby's mother's name is Rose-Tu. Lily and Rose, just like in Life & Death of Lily Drake!
Here's the part of the story that is most important though... Baby Lily (I'll call her that for now), may not be the property of the Portland Zoo, but instead a company who has a contract with them. A California-based company that owns Baby Lily's father and is entitled to half of the offspring he sires while living at the zoo according to the breeding contract.
Hopefully the Portland Zoo will be able to keep the baby with her mother. Elephants have a lifelong bond with their mothers and go through abandonment issues when taken away. I hope everyone who reads this keeps up with this story and voices their opinion on traveling elephant shows. You don't have to be a member of an animal rights organization to know that abusing an animal is wrong. And for anyone who might consider hiring a company to come to elephant rides at your kid's birthday party... for goodness sake's just get a clown! Hopefully they won't crap in your yard either.
