I peruse Facebook and Twitter, I people watch and listen to other women and I even have a few "friends" who partake in a truly heinous behavior that I've seen online as well as in person. It is often referred to as cattiness. Personally, I hate that word. it sounds sexist to me for some reason, maybe because you never hear of anyone refer to a man as catty, but regardless, I digress.
I'm not sure if many of my female counterparts who are guilty of this behavior are aware but there has actually been a time when we as women were not allowed to own property in our name or even keep our own wages, because that was duties of the husband. Less than 100 years ago we weren't even allowed to vote, and only since my lifetime have women been able to apply to military academies and have combat assignments.
I think any woman who is out in the workplace, especially working in male dominated fields like I have, can plainly see equality has made leaps and bounds over the years, yet we still aren't truly equal. Why am I rambling on about this though, you ask? Because as a society where women should be vital, important and equal members, many of us try to bring each other down instead of lifting the whole of us up.
Ladies, please think before you degrade another woman online or to others. Stop gossiping, being negative and trash talking publicly. What you maybe don't realize is with makeup and the right pair of shoes, we can all be beautiful on the outside, but the inside creeps out and can make a person ugly. If you're two-faced, I can assure you one of those faces isn't attractive. Let's stop sabotaging each other and instead work together.
