I've been incredibly lucky to have had some amazing teachers growing up. In middle school I had a wonderful English teacher, who I blame for my obsession with certain grammatical errors. Another middle school teacher as well as a high school, both who taught art, let me choose what projects I wanted to do and learn new things that seemed interesting to me. They both gave me the freedom to experience new media and brought out a creative side that I'm not sure I would have ever known I had.
In college I had two favorite professors. Again, another art teacher and strangely enough the other taught history, which I never enjoyed until his class. I had forgotten my passion for art until I took an art class required for my education degree. Within a year I had graduated, but promptly started back to school taking more of this teacher's classes and needing to find that artistic outlet that had exploded. The history teacher taught me the few things that I know about the past, and his excitement made it interesting to learn.
I feel so lucky to have had so many wonderful people share their knowledge with me. I hope my son has people like this in his school experience.
